America’s Boating Club: Weather Course

Presented By: Las Vegas Sail and Power Squadron

Every Thursday 6 PM to 8 PM

Starting: October 14th and

Ending: December 9th, 2021

Meet at the Lake Mead Marina Restaurant

(Come early for dinner and talk with fellow students and instructors. Allow plenty of time for dinner, class will start promptly at 6 pm)

Member Fee: $100

Non-Member: $200

Course Covers:

• How weather systems form, behave and move
• Where to get weather reports and forecasts on the internet
• Using full color photographs and drawings to understand weather
• Using daily weather maps
• Understanding NOAA’s Sky Watcher chart (identifying cloud types)

This 10 week course includes: 20 hours of instruction, a USPS student manual, cloud chart, and weather maps.

Instructor: Jay Higgins is an avid sailor with over 47 years experience racing and cruising sailboats

Guest Lecturers: Keith Scott and Travis Schwieder are both commercial airline pilots. Learn first-hand about weather planning and experiencing various weather systems
