No One Fights Alone

Did you know I fight like a girl?! And it’s the toughest fight I’ve got!!! June of this year, I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. A fast growing and aggressive little jerk! Cancer picked the wrong girl, because momma ain’t got time for that… I’m in the mist of the fight and I know I’ll kick cancers butt. It’s a long road but we got this!!!

I caught it quick and started the process quickly and pushed through all the preliminaries to get a plan and get it moving! I’m 10 chemo treatments in. I currently go weekly and it will change to every other week next month when the meds change. I will be having surgery in January sometime and then start a new regime of drugs! Things are progressing well. The massive lump has reduced!  I continue to work, lead Girl Scouts and fight this shit! Some days are harder than others, that is for sure! Chemo side effects always lurk! Yuk!

It’s not without the love of my amazing family and family of friends holding me up and supporting me as I navigate this Boob Bullshit journey. So together we fight and together we thrive!

I continue to know I’m blessed by my community and the people I meet. God and universe keep things in perspective for me. So even in the toughest moments, I am reminded that I am strong and people all around are fighting something. And honestly – I got this and my heart hurts for those that suffer in their own journeys. I hope I can lift them up. This journey is not to be walked alone.

I am thankful and blessed that I am not!  I cannot say enough about my family – they lift me up, bouy my spirits, hold my hand, pick up my slack, cook amazing meals, drive me around, text & call me, send me pics, and share in this journey with me everyday! Sydney and Alex are right there with me too! The grace and love they show are beyond their years.

Cancer can suck it and these drugs that will help us are really awful! But how blessed we are in a time  they can treat so many cancers and diseases so successfully, but not without support, love and a good damn attitude!!!

So two things:

1 – Get your mammograms, get to know your boobies so they won’t get the best of us, and if you notice a change or you question something – see your doc!! Early detection is key.  This also goes for all the other crap too! There are so many things for early detections available for colon cancer, ovarian cancer and more! Because as much as we might not want to know – don’t let it rule us! We make the rules! F – Cancer!

2 – Because I want to make a difference for others – I have decided and invite all of you to join me for the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk on October 19 in Summerlin. I’ve decided to fundraise and make a difference. If you can’t make it, you can find a Making Strides Walk in your area; just walk with us wherever you are and send a pic, or just simply donate to my team!

Join our “No One Fights Alone” team because together we support to fight cancer at every level!

Thank you for the love and prayers, good thoughts and vibes. I’ll take it all!

Love,
Candice
